title: A Parent's love
date: Wednesday, February 20, 2013
time : 1:57 PM

Mom and dad came last night again; they came to make sure I'm doing good a few days in a week as I need to cook all my meal at home so I don't have time to go over their place.

Mom have been very supportive in me into organic and being vegetarian for most meals. Erm... maybe she understands me too well, knowing that I know what I'm doing, and so that no matter what others said I will still be in my stand. So she rather being supportive, not against my thought - my doings.

Where else dad feesl that I should still take a bit of meat though he shares the same thought that having lot of vegetable are really good for health.

I understand his worries too, knowing that cause he did not ever read up the nutrient of each food so he don't know that the nutrient in meat I can easily get it from other better source in a plant that is even better for body system.

And every time they see me, they will ask me to employ maid. I'm way doing too much, worst than a stay-at-home-mom!

They alway see me in the house doing this and that, not even have time to sit down chit chat with them, comparing to their friends' daughter who is a stay-at-home-mom doing every single thing. They said I overloaded, too hard on myself.

They have been asking me to employ a maid to help out, in the past... I kept saying no, cause I hate having maid, the stress, having to supervise them. Then now that I in the need to rush home to cook every meals at home, they want to support me and asking me to quit my job, so I won't get too tired. I know they really love me and feel heartaching. But I can't don't work la and even shame to have parent to support me.

In the past, when I start working, wanna give them allowance but everytime they refused to take a single not to say when I married, they didn't even want to take any single $$$ from me, they said we got house loan to pay. Then after having kid, they even fight to pay our meals or things when we are out together.

And now they know my expenses will shot up high again agreeing to employ maid and the need to buy those organic foods, my dad even pushed bucks to me last night, we push here push there that he got so frustrated, scolded me he is tired pushing and I must take, is for me to engage the maid since is them kept forcing me to engage maid! Saying other days will pass me again! Me is like huh...😪😪, saying will accept this and keep in bank first then but don't pass me any anymore. They really love me and even my Hus that they don't want him to be too financial burden cause they knows me his wife really can spend a lot and for the best of  my kids.

Mom said next time their $$$ will also goes to us brothers sisters, so just take la if unused just keep it in bank! Dad always mentioned wanna give me his stock shares. Me is like huh, I don't know how to play stock sia. So for?! Lol~

He is already retired so is like enjoying life now! Whereas, Mom chooses to continue work, she is super workaholic, she never work she will feel sick. Weird woman haha~

In law also came the few days ago when my parent also around.
Haha, look like parents meeting.
Then Dad offered to drive them back to Tiong Bahru then back to Jurong again, mom and 2 kids take the ride too to jalan jalan haha
Well that is the loves of a parent, always want the best for their children.
The care is always there, no matter what.
And I love them too, just can't live without them.

A parents love is whole, no matter how many times divided

Yesterday morning, having avocado.
Haha, the way I eat it in the office.

Brought bestie Sz to a Onaka restaurant, which served Organic foods

My Organic Pineapple Brown Rice, I pretty love it. Suit me!

Sz dishes, but she claimed that too salty.
Look good though

My organic vegen sandwiches. I love it too

Last night, the dinner I cooked, here the kids' portion.
Veggie (vitamins and minerals), cashew nut (protein), flax seed powder (healthy fats) , cooked with olive oil (healthy fats) served with Quinoa (complex carbohydrates and non-gluten grains), all necessary nutrient is in there and are high calories that we needed.

I am still learning more about the nutrition facts of foods and may slowly introduce more healthy food to them.

Thanks god that they are not a fussy eater when come to meals.
Maybe yes at the initial but they don't dare to say NO to me.
Ever since they born, whatever thing I serve them. They have to eat, even they don't like.... I will want them to slowly finish up. Even if they don't like it and eat until like wanna vomit, they still got to slowly finish it. Well after sometime they learn to eat the food they dislike. See~ they now like it!
They shouldn't be picky on food!

No snacking always for my kids la, even more particular now.
So unhealthy....... I thought parent want the best for kids?
Instead I giving my kids healthy snack like natural pumpkin, sunflower seeds, or brown rice cracker etc
I hate seeing kids one hand ice-cream, one hand chocolate bar.
Look cute?!?! what for!!

Once in a blue mood ok la I won't say no, don't wanna be that EXTREMELY STRICT mommy too.
Sound too kelian
But at least I should keep it at minimum. Once a month if they really long waited for? lenient enough?! :D
I know Amabel is in primary school, can easily eat it in school without telling me.
So I will be particularly strict on her diet at home definitely.

Hi Eling,

By the time you reached home to prepare meals for the kids, will it be too late for them? Usually you serve the dinner at what time?

Can share the recipes and how to prepare the soup while i have to work during the day.

Thanks.

Hi Kairis,

Didn't manage to catch up with you before you left. Hope you are doing well in USA now :D

Aiyo I think you are much more better cook than me. Mine is all simple dishes.

Actually healthy meals is very easy for you since you can cook pretty well. Just remember introduce more veggies for every meals and minimize or totally omitted the following and substitute with better one:

- Refined carbohydrates (white flour, white rice)
- White sugar
- Red meat and fatty meat (if can avoid this for dinner, as the protein in meat take too long to digest, instead cook nut or seed dishes or fish for the protein needed)
- Processed and fabricated foods

You may want to check it out here
http://mypreciousangel.blogspot.sg/2013/02/update-my-healthy-diet.html on what you can substitute with, for more you can search online too :)

Will post more on the recipe if I managed to find more time
Hope this help! ;)

Hi Anonymous 1,

By the time I reached home is about 7pm already, so done with cooking is about 7.30pm and is really depends on what I cook. That's why I need maid to help, cause it really not good in long term to always eat that late.

For soup now I usually prepare organic chicken stock, vegetable stock or fish stock and store it in the fridge for next day use to make soup, vegetable pasta or noodle soup.

For very fast fish soup, I do try this which take about 20mins one; white fish in chunk with broccoli, carrot and apple to boil and Spring onions(scallion)for garnishing.

Else this if you prepare the stock before hand

homemade fish stock
2 tsp dried wakame (Japanese seaweed)
fish fillet (I used threadfin)
silken tofu – cut into small cubes
2 tomatoes – cut into wedges
Ginger slice (peeled, cut 3-4 thin slices and finely shredded)
Spring onions (scallion) or coriander leaves for garnishing

Seasoning:
Salt (I usually omitted this else just add abit) and pepper to taste

Marinade (for fish fillets)- most time I even omitted marinade the fish:
1½ tsp light soy sauce
¼ tsp sesame oil
A few shredded gingers
Spring onions (optional)

1) Wash and pat dry fish fillet. Prepare a steaming plate, place fish fillet with spring onions underlying it. Marinate with light soy sauce and sesame oil. Top with some shredded gingers. Steam for 8-10 minutes until the fish is cooked through (flaked easily). Set aside to cool. Flake fish finely or into small chunks.
2)Bring stock to a boil. Add in tofu, ginger and tomatoes. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
3)Bring stock to a boil again and turn off the heat.
4)Add in fish from step(1) and dried wakame. Season with salt and pepper.
5)Garnish with chopped spring onions or coriander leaves and serve.

Hope this help. You may find a better recipe online too. Cause for the food I prepare for my kids, usually i go for natural taste from the food itself, so I don't do marinade for most. :)

Hi Anonymous ,
Yes am getting maid, gonna do paperwork tonight for the transfer. For my past 3 maid are all from Crislo Agency http://www.crislo.sg/contact.html in Chinatown People's Park Complex. I always go there cos I preferred indo maid and they have more maids for me to choose compare to other agencies. And they having training centre in indo so their maid are all trained there at sg standard. But you know la is still the basic one so don't expected too much also. But I do feel there maid standards are pretty good. For the past 3 maids I engaged are fresh and they learned very fast. :)

Well, my current one that I gonna engage is not from Crislo cause is a transfer maid; is my mom's boss current maid, she said is very good and willing to transfer to me. :)

title: Busy weekend
date: Monday, November 19, 2012
time : 12:13 AM

This week, in the class gardening activity, the teacher teaches and let the children hand on how to plant onions; I find it a good way to show the children how a small seeds can yield large harvests and how they were planted, maintained, and harvested. I feel that children are more likely to try foods they grow themselves too! This was placed in the kitchen near the window now.

Saturday morning, brought Amabel to school and I chiong to Sasa to buy this.

Gf, Karen, highly recommended this for whitehead and blackhead. I didn't go online to read up other people reviews because I trust her review. She have the same problem of whitehead like me with occasionally outbreak and this really reduced her whiteheads and now she only use it occasionally whenever new whiteheads appear. She recommended many of her friends which all gave a thumb up! So is a MUST TRY!

Tonight, is the 2nd night I applying it. Super like it so far! When I apply it, it was quite a nice minty and cooling feel on the skin and the gel texture is just right for my liking. It seems that the whiteheads are so easy to be squeezed out. Oop! slap my itchy hand, I know I shouldn't do that but I wanna see whether it really soften the whiteheads on the 2nd day. Yes, it did! lol~

I think it took a few days for the whiteheads and blackheads to be 'softened' up and became easy to remove. If you don't remove it, the gunk will still come out of your pores naturally after sometime (maybe within 2 week) as guaranteed above. Shall review the result again in another 2 weeks. I want even more beautiful skin soon, with this, my routine skincare, Lamor and praventac!

Tried out this three new foods; "BLT burger", coffee bun and wolfberries chocolate
My Saturday's supper; MacDonald new menu "turkey Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato". Super like the crispy turkey bacon.

Bakery shop in Boon Lay, just next to the hawker. They bake super nice bun, many different flavor. I tried their coffee po lo bao. One word "Shiok"! Must eat immediate while it is still fresh from oven.

Bought this in cold storage on Saturday, first time try this after hus read about it on newspaper. Very nice too!

Bought new kids' bowl, have been looking for this bowl size for months; this was big enough and the deep and width is just what I want, so the food get warm fast enough for the kids to eat easier and the width is wider so less likely for Aisleyne to mess the table with food. And most important that I want and have been looking for long is it can withhold high  temperature of up to 120 degree. I saw a number of really nice bowl but I always put back to the shelf after checking that the temperature it can withhold is the most 80 degree. because I always have to rush back to cook after work for the kids and by the time we reach home is already quite late, I don't want to wait for the food to cool down before pouring onto the bowl as it was delay their meal time.

and I saw a very nice straw cup, so bought it for them to draw water. but kanna regret cause I really don't know how to wash that straw part :(

Having their meals I cooked over the weekend using new bowl

mee sua on Satursday

I love how Amabel eat, fast and clean! Very seldom waste her food. She always tell her meimei "Must finish up your food, many children no food to eat and Mommy earn money not easy!" Lol~ that is what I alway telling them.

by the time I took this video, she is already almost going to finish her food.

As for the meimei, Aisleyne, I alway have a hard time getting her to eat fast because her mouth is DAMN SMALL!! Her mouth cannot stuff big portion of food.

Their mealtime Rule and Regulation that I set
1) don't talk whilst eating - this will slow down their eating
2) no toys or any other things on the table other than food and drink - this will distract their meal
3) lean forward abit near the bowl whilst eating - table manner, try not to dirty the table and waste the food
4) hand must always holding on to spoon/fork - to remind them that they are eating, get ready the next spoon feed

but Aisleyne always violate the rule and get cane and scold by me. I know she is trying very hard and she did improve much compare to the past.

Video of her
talkative again

I always scold her for holding on to her bag bag, bad habit which she is trying very hard to kick off.

Armswag, ring and nailpolish(gift) from stylenanda

me

Sunday morning, immediate right after waking up, drink a big glass of warm water (is a must every morning), before brushing my teeth; my way of detoxified! Make breakfast for the kids and after brushing my teeth, not even wash my face (don't wanna wash my face again after it get dirty with all the dusty housechore), I start get ready a pail of water, cloth and dettol, remove the carpet and furniture and clean my dirty ceiling fan!. This is always my job even when I have a maid.

eeerrr. thick coat of dust built up fast because of the construction nearby

standing up on my tea table rather than ladder because of the wider base, to reach the ceiling fan, haha this table can only withstand my 40kg weight
this is the dust in just one blade. aww....

how thick it is

I cleaned multi wash to get it all clean

Rearrange my storeroom to make more space for carton of toys in the guestroom, so my guestroom is more spacious now. My shoe cabinet is too full and the boxes of shoes in the storeroom is randomly placed until so messy, so I bought this shoe rack from groupon with better price. Now my storeroom is neater with this

then sweep the floor with my magic floor wiper. Super love this, cause is easy to use! I don't even need to bend down to change the cloth to another clean side

No banging of the handle stick on the floor, it can stand up straight on its own.
360 turning

So dirty always; strands of the 3 girls hairs in the house and threads/fibers from my $700+ carpet, every thread/fibers gone the $$. lolx

hand mop the floor and vacuum the carpet and put back the furniture

then washing and hanging of clothes

follow by mountain of clothes to fold

Everything done by evening time, I'm super exhausted, sweat so much and faster go shower and wash my face. Want to set up Christmas tree but was too tired to do so.

Jiejie Amabel, reading story book to meimei until she fell asleep. So funny~ lol~

We got a cousin group chat on whatapps talking about everything, so funny la

title: Motherlylove homemade cookies [Updated with Recipe]
date: Tuesday, November 29, 2011
time : 2:14 AM

Told the girls that I'm going to bake cookies for them. They offer to help (their help is to play and mess my dough for sure haha) but I don't want them to know how the cookies gonna look like so I choo them to bed whilst waiting for the dough to chill in the fridge for an hour.

I written down the recipe sometime back and have been kept in my cupboard for months or even years. Can't really recall where I copied it from, should be sometime back in the library. Anyway the taste and sweetness are just right for kids' consumption. So happy that my gals kept asking for more.

Sables - The French Butter Cookie
Ingredients

- 150g Unsalted Butter (room temperature) (Butter is what gives these cookies their wonderful flavor so use the best you can afford.)
- 1 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract (Cause is for kids to eat so I used pure vanilla essence instead due to the alcohol content in the extract)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (I leave out this for kids’ consumption)
- 70g Caster Sugar
- 1 Large Egg

- 280g Plain Flour
- 0.5tsp Baking Powder

Egg Wash:
- 1 Egg Yolk
- 1tsp Pure Vanilla Extract (I used pure vanilla essence instead)

Preparation:
In the bowl of your electric mixer (or with a hand mixer),
1)       beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (2-3 minutes).
2)       add the egg and vanilla extract and beat until blended.
In a separate bowl,
3)       whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt (I omitted the salt).
To the butter mixture (1&2 above)
4)       add the flour mixture (3) and beat just until incorporated. Do not over mix the dough.
5)      Transfer the dough to a lightly floured work surface, knead the dough a few times to bring it together, and then divide the dough in half.  Wrap each half in plastic wrap and refrigerate until firm (at least an hour).
6)      Preheat oven to (177 degrees C) and place rack in the center of the oven.
7)      Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.
8)      Remove one portion of the dough from the refrigerator and place on a lightly floured work surface.  Roll out the dough until it is 1/4 inch (1 cm).  (For me I use argaration lol~)
9)      Using a lightly floured 2 inch (5 cm) round fluted cookie cutter (for me I use the cartoon cookie design cutter/mould), cut out the cookies, placing them on the prepared sheet.
10)  Place the baking sheet of cut out cookies in the refrigerator for about 15 -20 minutes to chill the dough.
11)   For the Egg wash, in a small bowl, whisk the egg yoke with Pure Vanilla Extract (or Pure Vanilla essence)
12)  Remove the cookies from the refrigerator and brush the tops with the egg wash.
13)  Then, with the tines of a fork (or I like to use the end of a toothpick), make a crisscross pattern on the top of each cookie. (I omitted this step since my cutter/mould already come with design on the face of the cookies and these cookies are delicious plain so I added Chocolate Chip for little more flavour so both A will like)
14)  Bake cookies in the preheated oven for about 15 - 20 minutes (depending on size of cookie) or until golden brown around the edges.

Whilst waiting for the cookies to be baked, I'm having my chilled self cooked snow fungus dessert
15)  Cool cookies on wire rack.

16)  Store in an airtight container for up to a week.

and~ Ta...dah..

I surprised my girls early in the morning with these. A mother hard work and sacrificing of her beauty sleep just to see a smiling face of them munching mother lovely cookies
