title: A Parent's love
date: Wednesday, February 20, 2013
time : 1:57 PM

Mom and dad came last night again; they came to make sure I'm doing good a few days in a week as I need to cook all my meal at home so I don't have time to go over their place.

Mom have been very supportive in me into organic and being vegetarian for most meals. Erm... maybe she understands me too well, knowing that I know what I'm doing, and so that no matter what others said I will still be in my stand. So she rather being supportive, not against my thought - my doings.

Where else dad feesl that I should still take a bit of meat though he shares the same thought that having lot of vegetable are really good for health.

I understand his worries too, knowing that cause he did not ever read up the nutrient of each food so he don't know that the nutrient in meat I can easily get it from other better source in a plant that is even better for body system.

And every time they see me, they will ask me to employ maid. I'm way doing too much, worst than a stay-at-home-mom!

They alway see me in the house doing this and that, not even have time to sit down chit chat with them, comparing to their friends' daughter who is a stay-at-home-mom doing every single thing. They said I overloaded, too hard on myself.

They have been asking me to employ a maid to help out, in the past... I kept saying no, cause I hate having maid, the stress, having to supervise them. Then now that I in the need to rush home to cook every meals at home, they want to support me and asking me to quit my job, so I won't get too tired. I know they really love me and feel heartaching. But I can't don't work la and even shame to have parent to support me.

In the past, when I start working, wanna give them allowance but everytime they refused to take a single not to say when I married, they didn't even want to take any single $$$ from me, they said we got house loan to pay. Then after having kid, they even fight to pay our meals or things when we are out together.

And now they know my expenses will shot up high again agreeing to employ maid and the need to buy those organic foods, my dad even pushed bucks to me last night, we push here push there that he got so frustrated, scolded me he is tired pushing and I must take, is for me to engage the maid since is them kept forcing me to engage maid! Saying other days will pass me again! Me is like huh...😪😪, saying will accept this and keep in bank first then but don't pass me any anymore. They really love me and even my Hus that they don't want him to be too financial burden cause they knows me his wife really can spend a lot and for the best of  my kids.

Mom said next time their $$$ will also goes to us brothers sisters, so just take la if unused just keep it in bank! Dad always mentioned wanna give me his stock shares. Me is like huh, I don't know how to play stock sia. So for?! Lol~

He is already retired so is like enjoying life now! Whereas, Mom chooses to continue work, she is super workaholic, she never work she will feel sick. Weird woman haha~

In law also came the few days ago when my parent also around.
Haha, look like parents meeting.
Then Dad offered to drive them back to Tiong Bahru then back to Jurong again, mom and 2 kids take the ride too to jalan jalan haha
Well that is the loves of a parent, always want the best for their children.
The care is always there, no matter what.
And I love them too, just can't live without them.

A parents love is whole, no matter how many times divided

Yesterday morning, having avocado.
Haha, the way I eat it in the office.

Brought bestie Sz to a Onaka restaurant, which served Organic foods

My Organic Pineapple Brown Rice, I pretty love it. Suit me!

Sz dishes, but she claimed that too salty.
Look good though

My organic vegen sandwiches. I love it too

Last night, the dinner I cooked, here the kids' portion.
Veggie (vitamins and minerals), cashew nut (protein), flax seed powder (healthy fats) , cooked with olive oil (healthy fats) served with Quinoa (complex carbohydrates and non-gluten grains), all necessary nutrient is in there and are high calories that we needed.

I am still learning more about the nutrition facts of foods and may slowly introduce more healthy food to them.

Thanks god that they are not a fussy eater when come to meals.
Maybe yes at the initial but they don't dare to say NO to me.
Ever since they born, whatever thing I serve them. They have to eat, even they don't like.... I will want them to slowly finish up. Even if they don't like it and eat until like wanna vomit, they still got to slowly finish it. Well after sometime they learn to eat the food they dislike. See~ they now like it!
They shouldn't be picky on food!

No snacking always for my kids la, even more particular now.
So unhealthy....... I thought parent want the best for kids?
Instead I giving my kids healthy snack like natural pumpkin, sunflower seeds, or brown rice cracker etc
I hate seeing kids one hand ice-cream, one hand chocolate bar.
Look cute?!?! what for!!

Once in a blue mood ok la I won't say no, don't wanna be that EXTREMELY STRICT mommy too.
Sound too kelian
But at least I should keep it at minimum. Once a month if they really long waited for? lenient enough?! :D
I know Amabel is in primary school, can easily eat it in school without telling me.
So I will be particularly strict on her diet at home definitely.

Hi Eling,

By the time you reached home to prepare meals for the kids, will it be too late for them? Usually you serve the dinner at what time?

Can share the recipes and how to prepare the soup while i have to work during the day.

Thanks.

Hi Kairis,

Didn't manage to catch up with you before you left. Hope you are doing well in USA now :D

Aiyo I think you are much more better cook than me. Mine is all simple dishes.

Actually healthy meals is very easy for you since you can cook pretty well. Just remember introduce more veggies for every meals and minimize or totally omitted the following and substitute with better one:

- Refined carbohydrates (white flour, white rice)
- White sugar
- Red meat and fatty meat (if can avoid this for dinner, as the protein in meat take too long to digest, instead cook nut or seed dishes or fish for the protein needed)
- Processed and fabricated foods

You may want to check it out here
http://mypreciousangel.blogspot.sg/2013/02/update-my-healthy-diet.html on what you can substitute with, for more you can search online too :)

Will post more on the recipe if I managed to find more time
Hope this help! ;)

Hi Anonymous 1,

By the time I reached home is about 7pm already, so done with cooking is about 7.30pm and is really depends on what I cook. That's why I need maid to help, cause it really not good in long term to always eat that late.

For soup now I usually prepare organic chicken stock, vegetable stock or fish stock and store it in the fridge for next day use to make soup, vegetable pasta or noodle soup.

For very fast fish soup, I do try this which take about 20mins one; white fish in chunk with broccoli, carrot and apple to boil and Spring onions(scallion)for garnishing.

Else this if you prepare the stock before hand

homemade fish stock
2 tsp dried wakame (Japanese seaweed)
fish fillet (I used threadfin)
silken tofu – cut into small cubes
2 tomatoes – cut into wedges
Ginger slice (peeled, cut 3-4 thin slices and finely shredded)
Spring onions (scallion) or coriander leaves for garnishing

Seasoning:
Salt (I usually omitted this else just add abit) and pepper to taste

Marinade (for fish fillets)- most time I even omitted marinade the fish:
1½ tsp light soy sauce
¼ tsp sesame oil
A few shredded gingers
Spring onions (optional)

1) Wash and pat dry fish fillet. Prepare a steaming plate, place fish fillet with spring onions underlying it. Marinate with light soy sauce and sesame oil. Top with some shredded gingers. Steam for 8-10 minutes until the fish is cooked through (flaked easily). Set aside to cool. Flake fish finely or into small chunks.
2)Bring stock to a boil. Add in tofu, ginger and tomatoes. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
3)Bring stock to a boil again and turn off the heat.
4)Add in fish from step(1) and dried wakame. Season with salt and pepper.
5)Garnish with chopped spring onions or coriander leaves and serve.

Hope this help. You may find a better recipe online too. Cause for the food I prepare for my kids, usually i go for natural taste from the food itself, so I don't do marinade for most. :)

Hi Anonymous ,
Yes am getting maid, gonna do paperwork tonight for the transfer. For my past 3 maid are all from Crislo Agency http://www.crislo.sg/contact.html in Chinatown People's Park Complex. I always go there cos I preferred indo maid and they have more maids for me to choose compare to other agencies. And they having training centre in indo so their maid are all trained there at sg standard. But you know la is still the basic one so don't expected too much also. But I do feel there maid standards are pretty good. For the past 3 maids I engaged are fresh and they learned very fast. :)

Well, my current one that I gonna engage is not from Crislo cause is a transfer maid; is my mom's boss current maid, she said is very good and willing to transfer to me. :)

Here pics with my precious, taken 2 weeks ago...
Photos taken at United square yesterday. Changing Amabel's diaper.

And saw a disney performance. Wanna take pic with the Mickey and Minnie. But they are too far away.

We stay there till 6pm after Amabel's class ended.

And we headed to AMK for the Mellben crab with Amabel's maternal grandparent, 大舅 + 二舅,姨姨, huihui 姨姨 + 姨丈 and Meiqi 表姐 + 表姐夫 + Ethan.

See how famous their crab is. The queue is scary and we queued for nearly 1.5hrs. It is really yummy

And....

Today is another busy day for me, though I laze at home till afternoon. Hubby woke up and drove us to Great World City for some food and cold storage to buy Amabel's foodstuff.
And I discovered that Amabel really grow up to a big girl le. Though she often mess up the whole house but she does help in some house chore too.

And she now start to make her own decision like what to wear.
Before we leave for GWC, I took out her pink colour shoes. She refused to wear it and insist to take out another pair of shoe to wear. I told her it doesn't match her clothing and she cried, insist to wear another pair. Haha... I got hard time persuade her to wear the pink shoes. Sweat! and finally she agreed.

At the neighbor corridor. Waiting for me and the helper.

And as usual, she will pray at their joss stick offering.

Hubby and my precious bel
She loves to visit the dogs at that particular shop
On the way back. See i never lie. She will love to help us as much as she can

Haha wanna take off her shoes but she doesn't know what she should do with those bags.
Amabel: Shall I put it on the floor first?

Amabel: Or bring it to Daddy or someone to keep

Amabel will then open the shoe cabinet and keep it together with her other shoes.

Amabel: This is our shoe cabinet. Mommy always scolding Daddy who always buying exp shoes.
Total 8 shelve; I occupied half the shelf, Mommy one and the half shelf. Some other stuff in one shelf and the rest of course is occpied by the shoecoholic 'Daddy' Amabel is clever, she knows which shelf is belong to her

And knows that she need to close it after use.

Amabel: Got back and Mommy faster prepare my dinner. Meal for tonight is healthy fried rice specially cook for me. Thanks Aunty Brenda for teaching my mom how to cook this.

Mommy tried some and said it is very nice. Amabel of course love it too.

The noble ones in my Life

This may come out to be a very long post. There are words which I really can't express out to them face to face and I will like my children to know how important they are to me.

My Heart of Gold grandmother-in-law (Your great-grandmother)
She is a very special and beautiful woman I have known. A heart, that's made from the finest purest gold. Being thoughtful to others, it sees sincerely as duty. She is a noble woman that I am so proud.

She is one that is being sent down from Heaven to save people. No matter what, she tried her very best to save people around her without asking for any return. She spends all her money to help people. Even if she is down with illness, she still tried her best to save and praying for a peaceful world. She suffered so much just to help others.

My children, you must always bear in mind that your life is owned by her. No her, you won't be exist in the earth. No her, I won't have such a healthy children for me to love and dote on. You may not understand what I mean and you don't need to know also. Just bless her, even when one day she needs to leave the land of living.

I will like to thank her... Really,
Thank you for being a special person that you are. Thank you for the love and care that you have shown. And thank you for the endless love that has stretched so far. The kindness that you bring. And the support while I am breastfeeding my little girl, Amabel. You are one that feels so heart pain for me when you see me trying to preserve in breastfeeding and give the best to my girl. You said I did it very well. She still can’t believe for such a wayward and headstrong girl could preserve in breastfeeding for so long for her child. You are one that encourage me and let me know that what I had done (breastfeeding) this almost 1 year for Amabel is worth it and enough. Is time for me to take a rest and boost up my health. You are one that made me feel better to the decision to stop breastfeeding my girl soon. Really... I love you! Words which I don't dare to tell you but hope that you can feel it.

My grandmother (Your maternal great grandmother)
She is the one who taking care of me, feeding me and brings me to school everyday when I am still a small kid. She passed ago last year Feb 2006 while you are still in Mommy’s womb. And I am so sorry to Amabel for crying so sadly at home (as it is no good for the foetus). I were not allowed to go to the hospital to see her before she left because your maternal grandfather asked me not to, I feel so sad. I don’t even get to see her face one last time in the funeral because I am not allowed to, that is my regret. I really feel so sorry to grandmother for not respecting her and hold her hand and give her a hug once last time before she left us. Sorry… grandmother. I Love you. God bless you. One day we will get to see each other again.

My grandfather –in-law (Your great-grandfather)
He passed ago last year 2006 too while you are still in Mommy’s womb. And I am so sorry to Amabel for crying again. He love singing and I love to hear him sing those Hokkien songs. And his smile is so contagious that I like it so much. Even though you already left us, but your soul seem to be still with us, watching us, blessing us and your wonderful voice that we will never forget.

My grandfather (Your maternal great grandfather)
He has passed away very very long ago. He is one handsome guy when he is young and even old. I am so sorry to him for not respecting him when he is still around. Without you, grandmother also becomes so lonely. Grandfather… you are always in my heart. I Love you. God bless you. One day we will reunite again.

My Mother-in-law (Your grandmother)
A very understanding mother-in-law of mine. She suffered a lot as a daughter-in-law when she is young; she was not well treated by her mother-in-law. That's why she always trying to give in to her daughter-in-law and treating us very good. I still can't forget when I were lying on the bed after delivered Amabel, what she said to me once she entered the room in a wheelchair. 依玲, 心苦妳了. To me, she is a very strong woman. She overcome the fierce and continues fighting against the cancer. I know she has been trying to hide her sadness and pain. I don't wish to see her cry again. Whenever, I see her cried in pain, made my heart aching. I love to see her smile.
媽...
Thank you for endure my wayward and willful character. I will try my very best to be a good and filial daughter-in-law. You must preserve and I am sure one day you will totally recover. We are all here to support you and bless you. Love you too.

My Father-in-law (Your grandfather)
A man that can cook a lot of very delicious foods that I love. He is the one who cooked those tonics when I am pregnant and confinement dishes for me during my confinement. He is one good father, in-law and husband that I respect. He treated me very good and I love to see him laugh showing his bogay (toothless) smile, looks damn cute. He and grandmother loves and dotes you, you must filial to them.

My Mother (Your maternal grandmother)
She is a noble mother. All her life is being spent in working; for her children. She is working so hard just to earn and save a lot of money for her children and next generation. She just wants us to grow up without the worry of no food or shelter to live in. Now she has the wealth and can retire but she wants to continue earning more for her grandchildren and us. She is one who gives a lending hand when we face financial problem. We grow up in golden spoon, so both, your Yiyi and me adapted in this kind of willful character. She keeps enduring us and yet we didn’t show much respect to her at all. I feel so sinful. She loves and dotes you so much, you must filial to her ok.
Thank you mum for all that you have done for us. I Love You Forever! Truly!

My Father (Your maternal grandfather)
He started from a few dollars when he met your maternal grandmother to now with so much wealth. He went through so much hardship just to let his children live without suffering. We are fortune enough to have him. Pa… you love and dote Amabel and us so much, me too. Love You Forever. I appreciated what you have done for us. Thank You!

I feel so blissful. Really!

Sorry for any spelling mistakes or incorrect grammar.
