title: An Acidic Body = A Disease Magnet
date: Tuesday, April 30, 2013

Why I would like to share here the pieces of useful articles/newletters on wellness and health that  I read and learn. Somehow I hope my children will one day come into here not only to read and reminisce those childhood memories but also hoping this little space will benefit them to be more conscious about their own health and get them to know a little more about health wellness and directing them to be aware of the health consequences

As they grow, they should take the responsible in taking care of their own health and I can't forever control them as like they are still a little baby.

If you have been following my blog, should know that now my kids and my diet are more to alkaline form of food to balance the acidify body.
So I think this is a very good one to share, which I read today during my lunch,

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Did you know that an acidic body is a sickness magnet? What does it mean by acidic body? Our eating habits and lifestyle are wreaking havoc to our body and health. You like McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy’s, soda, chips, doughnuts and fried stuffs? Think twice before excessively gorging these stuffs down your throat.

When we consume foods like fast food, snacks, refined carbohydrates, soda and alcohol, they are digested by our body. The digestion produces acidic compounds, hence acidifying our body.

Stress factors, lacking of exercise, exposure to pollutants, toxic overload (from drugs, ingestion of pesticide residue from food) only make things worse.

Over acidic body ‘attracts’ many kinds of sickness. You can feel constant tiredness (fatigue), you may see your body adding more those unwanted extra pounds (obesity) or your complexion gets duller and more pimples start breaking out (your body not expelling toxins effectively).

In other words, what happens if your body gets to acidic?
1. It provides a condition that allows tumor cells to thrive - CANCER
2. Make the body more susceptible to fatigue and illness
3. Your body will have a hard time getting rid of heavy metals and toxins, causing more stress to organs that expels toxins (e.g. : Kidney, lungs, liver, skin, colon)
4. Acid build-up in cells can hamper the body’s ability to repair damaged cells

Balancing the body’s pH (to measure acidity and alkalinity) is the first step towards well-being and greater health. To maintain health, eat more fresh fruits and particularly vegetables (see the list below to find out what are the alkaline forming fruits, veggies and other foods) to balance out the protein intake (acid forming food).

Among many fruits, lemon is categorized as one of the extremely alkaline producing food.
What!!? Now, wait a minute. Lemon is alkaline? It is always in the general perception that lemon is acidic, but the fact is it is not.

Here is why - A food’s acid/alkaline forming abilities have nothing related to the actual pH of the food itself. By right, citrus fruits are acidic when their pH levels are tested. However, when eaten (following digestion and assimilation by the body), they become alkaline.

Below are some examples of alkalinizing and acidic food:

Alkalizing foods

Broccoli, garlic, celery, mushrooms, peas, spirulina, tomatoes, wheat grass, citrus fruits, grapes, watermelon, peach, pineapple, strawberry, almond, fermented tofu, cinnamon, curry, ginger, apple cider vinegar, mineral water

Acidifying foods

Corn, lentils, blueberry, cranberry, barley, bran wheat, oat, bread, noodles, flour, black beans, green beans, soy milk, almond milk, butter, cheese, ice cream, cashews nut, legumes, peanut butter, bacon, beef, fish, lamb, pork, rabbit, tuna, venison, liquors, cocoa, coffee, soft drinks, tobacco, herbicides, pesticides.

REMEMBER, what you eat and drink will impact where your body’s pH level falls, choose wisely and accordingly.
Balance and eating in moderation is the KEY to a healthy body!
