title: How to safely pop a pimple? if you're going to do it
date: Tuesday, October 29, 2013 time : 11:54 AM
I still do not know who the hell this Dr Oz. is but I had
seen his name Dr Oz. Dr Oz. Dr Oz millions of times everywhere in many
forums...this name keeps appearing; peoples always said to email to ask Dr Oz
when talking about health and skin related stuff.
And so right below there is this video of him in a show
which I found last night on my read up on acnes and comedones related stuff,
now then I know who he is lol
And this gave me a urge to write up this post for guys and
my girls like me who can't control the urge to pop it, prick it, squeeze it,
squish it, scape it or scratch it or whatever words that is to attack it. That’s
when you're staring in the mirror and a pimple (pus-filled) or modest
whiteheads/blackhead is staring right back at you, you're gonna to get the
urge. You want to squeeze it. You really want to squeeze it, just like what UI will do.
Attack it with my bare hands or any tool, cause that's the simplest and
immediate way to get rid of it. That’s also especially when the pimples show up
at the wrong times when I’m gonna have party or event to attend.
Unfortunately, skin doesn't always respond well to the
two-finger acne treatment. But even knowing it, no one can control this natural
urge and i must agreed it does relieve built.
So
is it really that bad to pop a pimple?
My dermatologists always frown upon knowing I pop and
squeeze my pimples because it can lead to scarring or another breakout, they
claimed. Also it is likely when you prick, and prod a pimple and then puncture
the pimple's outer skin to squeeze and make the gunk oozes out, you may
inadvertently force the debris and bacteria from the pore even deeper into your
skin (follicle). That can cause the follicle wall to rupture and spill infected
material into the dermis (the innermost section of the skin.). That's also the
reason why I often wake up the next morning with infected and pus-filled acne
again after squeezing the pus out of the pimples or whiteheads the night
before. I could have pushed it deeper in without feeling so. There is also
chances of introduce new kinds of bacteria from your finger into the zit if that's
done in a way that is unsafe or unhygienic, it will then cause the zits to
become more inflamed, swollen and infected, and lead to permanent scarring.
Well, it's not the popping that's at issue, but the way that
we do it are often unsafe and unhygienic. But zapping a zit can be done safely
by a well-trained Dermatologists and estheticians. I remembered few years back,
I did twice at Dr Joyce Lim Skin and Laser clinic to get a professional
pricking of my closed comedones and pustules. They wear gloves and lance a
pimple with a sterile needle, then remove the contents with an instrument
called a comedone extractor. And my face was clearer without leaving scars. But I wouldn't wanna do that again cause my face look terribly for the first few days with the pricking marks and redness.
So, popping a pimple is best left to the professional
But I know most times, it can be tough to resist the impulse
to squeeze the pus out with the faster and easier ways
So if you're going to do it, there's a proper way, as can
found online. But still best with clear-hand policy
Here Dr Oz gives a warning about how dangerous it can be to
pop pimples in the wrong place (Triangle of Death WTF?! Serious?) and also on
how to pop a pimples.
http://www.oprah.com/oprahshow/Dr-Oz-Demonstrates-How-to-Properly-Pop-a-Pimple-Video
1. Don't poke too early. Wait until your pimple has a firm
white head. That means the pus is close to the surface and ready to be drained.
2. Wash your hands thoroughly with warm water, soap, and a
fingernail brush.
3. Sterilize a straight pin with a match or lighter. Let the
pin cool, then wipe it down with rubbing alcohol. Swab the zit with alcohol and
pour some on your fingers, too.
4. Dry your fingers and wrap them with a clean tissue.
5. Position your pin. Hold the pin parallel to the surface
of your skin, and gently pierce the very tip of the zit's white center.
6. Using your fingers, or a cotton swab, softly squeeze the
pimple. Press around (not on) the white tip of the zit. If the pus doesn't come
out easily, the pimple isn't ready to be popped. Stop!
7. Apply more alcohol (it will sting) or a very small amount
of bacitracin ointment to the now-deflated blemish.
A final caution: There are types of pimples you should never
try to pop, no matter how great the urge -- cysts and nodules, which are firm,
painful pimples that form deep in your skin. The treatment for these pimples is
more complex than that for regular acne, and they should be treated by a doctor
only.

Thanks for your generous tips that you have written on your blog so far. Thumbs up. Hope to hear from you soon.

Hello E Ling dear!
Read you replied to a reader you are using Stylenanda liquid foundation. this isn't a mainstream makeup brand in Singapore but certainly looks interesting!
Where do you purchase it may i know?
I googled and it says a korean brand.
Thanks in advance!
PS: have you tried Hanskin before? i read it has super good coverage but again not readily available in singapore and have to buy off in qoo10 (formerly known as gmarket).
Love,
Liting
Hi Liting,
I got all my stylenanda products from their official site http://en.stylenanda.com/
Hanskin BB cream? I didn't try and I have stopped all BB cream cause it was actually known to be clogging the pores (as warned by my dermatologist) more than foundation. :)

Hello E Ling Jie :)
Thanks for sharing the site. :)
Appreciated!
Hanskin is a famous BB cream in Korea, strangely recommended by a friend's dermatologist. read the coverage is good but like you said, ingredient is pore clogging, unfriendly to skin. most of the times, a lot are "marketing hope and beauty" need to really see which ethical company use skin friendly ingredient. i guess organic skincare/makeup brand are good than most commercial brand ba , do you have any experience in using organic brand?
i heard from a friend Jane iredale skincare/makeup use good ingredient. again, not readily found in singapore, but in USA sephora. i think some authorized beautician in local do carry their product. another one green brand a lot of celeb use is Tarte. (makeup range)
mind i ask why do you select styenanda? it seems niche brand and is it recommended by ur doctor or..?
thanks! lets' go green, natural and clean together!
Love
Liting
Hi Liting,
Sorry for the late reply, slipped this off last week.
Which organic makeup brand you using? I not yet really go into organic makeup yet since I don't makeup often so the harm not that much so is still ok but will try if I get to see good one. So far one that claimed that their ingredient are eco, natural and organic are Bare mineral that I do use on and off but i doubt it was really organic as I read.
Will check it out on Jane iredale and Tarte you mentioned above.
Nope stylenanda is not recommended by my dermatologist. I often visit stylenanda site for my apparel and just curious about their cosmetic and how amazing it look on their models, so bought pretty number of their cosmetic products to try. So far pretty awesomes. The liquid foundation I used from them are pretty great, and it didn't clog my pores further or cause any pimples so far. :D
