title: Maintaining Healthy Alkaline-Acid Balance -- Alkaline Water

Attended a 'Holistic Nutrition with Medicinal Plants and Herbs meet event talk on Ayurvedic (Science of Life) Nutrition and the Medicinal properties of some herbs' on 20 Feb 13 Wednesday's night.

It was a very rewarding and enjoying one, a talk given by Vasanthi Pillay.
Came to know about a number of beneficial nutrient in plant (veggies). Like turmeric, garlic, fenugreek ( but not everybody can take this depend on your body type) etc.
Also know a lot of knowledge about how to understand more about your body, how to communicate well with the body, so we know what food is need for our body more as individual required certain nutrient from a food source more than others.

Here came to the point.... then I knew this very nice Mr Sia who is the managing director in Nanos Water System company, an alkaline water system.

As I read a lot about how important alkaline is to a body and the nutritionist dietician also told me how important alkaline-producing food is to health. I expressed a lot of interest on alkaline-producing food and how to maintain a body pH level by providing more alkaline to the body from the thing we eat and drink.

So I am being super excited and interest and wanna know more about this alkaline water filtering system from him, although I already had a diamond water filtering system at home but it can't give me and maintain an alkaline pH water. I had a talk with him and decided to get him to come my home to test my water tap chorine level and my diamond water current state PH level on how alkaline it is.

It is so scary to look at how this chlorine are all absorbed into the food we wash with those tap water. Imagine we eat all this inside our body and depend on the body to do the filtering for us. Too stress for the body!!

I don't do thing blindly so I also email my nutritionist dietician about this system before I go ahead to get it install and yeah she gives me the greenlight :D


So here it was.... replacing my Diamond Water System


Very good thing about this water filtering system is that I can don't need to fork out a thousand bucks to two to own the whole system, instead I can rent from them at $50/month with a $300 one-time fee for installation to get a this brand new system installed at home. Every 2 months they will come to clean and service the system for free, anything happened to the system or part spoil, I don't need to pay a single cents to repairs, free upgrade the system when new model is out. Unlike my diamond water system, part spoilt $$, servicing also $$ and we have to clean the filtering tube ourselves every monthly. Too troublesome!!

And he also paste this magnet on my fridge to let me know the next servicing and cleaning need to be done. Sound too good so I can ensure that my water is always in good quality as I need to drink 2 litres of water daily, so good quality water is important to me. And now this alkaline water can be helpful to keep my body alkaline-acid balance!



Here I share more about how important alkaline is for our body.....

For the human body to function at its best, it has to have an internal chemistry balance of alkaline with pH of 7.0 - 8.0.

Out internal chemistry functions best in the above alkaline condition. When the cells are healthy, they have an alkaline balance of 7.0 - 8.0 a diseased cell has an alkaline of below 7.0.

As a by product of metabolism, the body normally produces acid, but it cannot produce alkalines. It is our responsibility to provide the body with alkalines from outside sources, mainly from food.

However, there are foods that are basically acidic, and there are foods that are alkaline-forming. When we consume acidic foods, the body must neutralize them with alkalines. If it cannot find any alkalines, the body uses the alkalines in the cells to do the job, and when these cells become acidic, they develop diseases.

In a state of over-acidity, the body also borrows alkalines such as magnesium and calcium from vital organs, resulting in those organs being damaged. The body enters a state of stress and imbalance that can contribute or lead to an array of health complications.

Drugs are also acid-forming materials, which can lead to an over-acidic environment very quickly.

A stable, alkaline-pH body environment will help the body resist disease. A healthy diet consists of high alkaline-producing foods that allow the body to keep sufficient alkaline reserves to balance an acid environment and stay healthy.

The conclusion is simple; in order to maintain a healthy balanced body and prevent over-acidity and toxicity that can aggravate health condition, we must consume plenty of alkaline-forming foods while minimizing acidic foods. Hence now I eat quite a lot of alkaline-producing food.

Alkaline-forming foods I incorporate into diet
- non starchy low sugar vegetable and low sugar vegetable juices, olive oil, lemons, limes, wheatgrass, asparagus, onions, parsley, raw spinach, broccoli, garlic.

Acid-forming food we should minimize in diet
- homogenized milk, blackberries, cranberries, prunes, beef, pork, shellfish, cheese, ice cream, pecans, white rice, corn, buckwheat and of course white sugar and artificial sweeteners
- stress and negative thoughts also cause an acid environment.
