Tonight, four of us sleep in the same room, in the master room. Shiok! so long didn't sleep in the cold air-con room. Seldom turn on the air-con as the gals don't like to cover themselves with blankie so pretty scare they will catch a cold and it will be pretty dry for the throat but we do have humidifier in a air-con room.
12th October is lunar 27 month of August (夏历八月廿七) which is Confucius birthday celebration, so I bought 2 gals down to the temple just next to our block to pray Confucius for excellence in their studies.
Confucius who is a great sage, born more than 25 centuries ago in China, is also credited with promoting values such as respect for elders and reciprocity. His philosophy emphasized personal and governmental morality, correctness of social relationships, justice and sincerity. His teachings have since been studied worldwide and translated into many languages.
Saw many parents who want their children to do well in school, with their children crowded in the temple to pay their respects to the Chinese thinker-philosopher Confucius so as to they will do brilliantly in school.
Every parent is offerings these which are pre-packed on a tray by the temple helpers and sold to devotees to offer to Confucius. But will then return back to us after the offering, then for the children to eat as a blessing
According to the oldies there, the spring onion (cong) which sounds like 'intelligent' in Mandarin, are offered to him so that the children will be blessed to be intelligent. And for the bean curd (kwa), which sounds like 'government officer' in Hokkien are offered so that the children will be blessed to become a scholarly officer. Interesting right! It's alway come with a biscuit and stationery for the children.
