title: It's not easy being a mother!
date: Tuesday, August 17, 2010
time : 9:12 AM

Peoples who have follow me on twitter or facebook should had knew that Aisleyne was down with fever and hence the mother was busy like a mad women, being so helpless especially during the nights; having to stay awake or wake up every 2 hours to check on lil A's temperature. In the meanwhile, worrying that Big A will caught the bug too.

Lil A fever started on 7 August, the fever was already 38.3 degree when I first measure her, gave her fever medicine every 4 hours but the fever shot up to even higher after going down for 2 hours. Then ibufen was given every 8 hours with alternate paracetomol every 3 to 4 hours. This continue for another day, the condition remain; everytime 2 or 3 hours after the medication, the fever can shot up to very high above 39 degree. I knew that this is normal, most likely will be viral fever which will continue for about 5 days. Still feel that it’s better to bring her to see a GP first on Monday since no PD is available on public holiday. Another sleepless night again and my hus was sleeping like a dead pig despite lil A was crying like hell in the middle of the night when I feeding her eat medicine. I think she eat until scare and I had to use force one this time round. Soft approach doesn't work. And she is damn strong lor, kick until me feel damn painful, almost wanna go crazy!
I think every half an hour to an hour; she woke up whining and wanting to drink water and me to scratch her back. I couldn’t keep my eyes open but had to force myself to be awake till she falls asleep. Then awhile later she was whining again, requesting the same things. Faint! And she doesn’t want me to sponge clean her, keep crying, struggling and kick me away. I try to, can only letting her cry but I’m damn fed up.

Tuesday morning, I bring along my maid and elder girl, rushing over to Gleneagles carrying lil A as her temperature shot up to 39.9 degree despite alternate paracetomol and bullet every 4 hourly. In the cab, I measure the temperature again and it is still very high though after another round of medication.

Seen another PD as Dr Gong from our regular clinic is on MC. Really down in luck, iphone spoilt, thermometer was spoilt the day before also. PD, Dr Lam suggested for a urine test. Put on a urine bag for lil A, by the time it was already about 11.30am. We went to have our lunch while waiting for lil A to pee. No urine in the urine bag yet, so I have to keep forcing her to drink water, but she refused. Gave my girls some bread; they must be hungry le cause I didn’t bring their milk and meal, thinking that it should be pretty fast but… hai…Then I bought lil A a cup of apple juice, drink afew sips then don’t want already. Checked the urine bag, but there is no urine. Brought her a cup of Mr Bean soya milk, in the end all went into my stomach cause she doesn’t want to drink at all. I and my maid very busy forcing her to drink water, and she kept turning her head away from it, force her again and she started screaming and crying. Making me so frustrated. And more than 2 hours, finally she pee but but but….argh………the urine leaked out! I think she struggling too much and too much of movement causing the urine to leak out from the urine bag. I almost burst out! Get another urine bag and ask the laboratory nurse to put on for her and by then it is already 2pm plus already. Then we force her drink water again, as expected she refused to drink. Managed to get her to sip one or two but then wait for about half an hour, she didn’t pee but poo. OMG! Bring her to clean her butt and I decided to go home to get her milk instead, knowing that she will definitely drink her milk. Told the laboratory nurse my decision to travel all the way back to Jurong to take my girls’ milk, then back to Gleneagles again. The nurse initially not encourage to, cause it’s already almost 2.45pm so by the time we reach Gleneagles and wait for lil A to pee, the laboratory may already close (they close at 5pm). I insisted cause without any fluid how am she going to pee, then she got no choice but to give me another urine bag to bring home.

Reached home, everything must be fast, faster on-call a cab first, wash lil A butt again and while the maid preparing the milk for my girls and pack another bottle and milk powder in case. I only let lil A drink the milk when in the cab. After about 10-15minutes, I put on the urine bag for lil A, hoping she will pee soon. I waited for about another 30 minutes with every 5 mins I opened up her diaper to check her urine bag, but it was still empty with no urine and it was already 4.15pm, getting so anxious and stressful. Kept forcing lil A to drink water again. Then I decided to bring lil A to the handicapped/diaper changing room, I removed her diaper and with just the urine bag and I sat on the toilet bowl waiting for her to urine so I don’t have to keep opening her diaper to check while I continue asking her to drink water. Managed to force her sip very little bit of water, I think we were in the toilet for almost another 30minutes. I felt so hot inside till I almost wanna give up and went home without doing the urine test. I put on the diaper for lil A again and out of the toilet. Decided giving her another a few minutes, if still not urine, I will go home since the Laboratory going to close in another 15mins. Wait and wait and it is already 4.55pm, I opened up her diaper and check her urine bag. I almost wanna cry when I saw the bag is full with urine. We made it in the last 5 mins before the laboratory close. I faster carried lil A in the right way, holding under her armpit with her two legs hanging (which the nurse taught), so the urine won’t leak out and ran to the Laboratory. Can you imagine how I look like, looking in that way, behaving like a mad women, calling the nurse and telling the nurse “Finally collected the urine, I were so excited and happy” once I entered the Laboratory. The nurse laughing and help me collected the urine and put it into the container and asked me to wait for tomorrow for the result. Phew!!

The result was out “negative” phew! I feel so relieve! I continue feeding her medication and after another day, no more fever. Just when I thought I can get more rest already, who know Big A turn to down with fever and really bad sore throat on Thursday’s night. I had to wake up every few hours to check her temperature and feed her medication and since I have no more leave to off from work already, I had to drag my heavy feet and zombie face to work. And so Hus and maid are the one taking care Big A and lil A, while I’m at work. But glad that Big A fever recovered pretty fast after eating the medicine and antibiotic. Super tiring man~
