Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

Back from supper after the praying event, reach home faster breastfeed Aisleyne.
Supposed to pump milk to empty the breast after breastfeeding but too tired and fell asleep.
Woke up @ 2am after a hour of sleep, then faster re-sterilise my pumps. While waiting for the sterilising process, I fell alseep again for another hour.
Imagine how tired I am, insufficient sleep even in weekend.
I shouldn't be complaining since I insisted to breastfeed my girl.
And this gonna continue as far as I can persist, hopefully more than 2 years (my set target)

Am now expressing milk and surfing net
Just saw a comment from reader about the possibility of Amabel having ADHD.
This made me search for more infomations on ADD/ADHD

After getting informations from afew sources
I don't think Amabel is suffering from ADD/ADHD
But I will not rule this out until a psychologist evaluation.

These are the the symptoms of ADHD
Children who have symptoms of inattention may:
  • Be easily distracted, miss details, forget things, and frequently switch from one activity to another

eg. If your child headed towards his room intending to put the toys away, but quickly got caught up on the way in playing with a real neat toy, his/her "non-compliance" is not necessarily intentional and may represent the distractibility and difficulty completing tasks that is characteristic of ADHD. If, however, your child argued about having to pick up the toys, and basically refused to do it, the non-compliance is deliberate and willful, and is no longer attributable to ADHD per se.

Amabel will argue back and refuse to do it. From what I observed, she is more to deliberately and willful rather than distractibility and having difficulty completing tasks.

  • Have difficulty focusing on one thing

Amabel doesn't have this problem. When she is doing matching game, she can focus very well and do it very well.

  • Become bored with a task after only a few minutes, unless they are doing something enjoyable.

Which children won't get bored when doing things which don't interest them!? Even for adult too.

  • Have difficulty focusing attention on organizing and completing a task or learning something new

Amabel learns new thing pretty well without any assisting.

  • Have trouble completing or turning in homework assignments, often losing things (e.g., pencils, toys, assignments) needed to complete tasks or activities

So far never receive such feedback from her teacher. The file that she bring back monthly; she completed all her school assignments except those that is empty with the red remark "Absent"

  • Not seem to listen when spoken to

I know that she is listening, just that she refusing to listen. my comment: playful, headstrong especially when she think she is not in wrong, she will close her ears.

  • Daydream, become easily confused, and move slowly

I don't think she got such problem. She only move slowly (throwing tantrum actually) when me and hubby walking beyond her, leaving her behind. And also early in the morning, being waken up by me to school, still in sleepy mode

  • Have difficulty processing information as quickly and accurately as others

She definitely don't have such problem

  • Struggle to follow instructions.
Can follow instructions very well unless she is not in the mood to.

Children who have symptoms of hyperactivity may:
  • Fidget and squirm in their seats

Nope, she don't do that unless she is throwing tantrum

  • Talk nonstop

She likes to talk, this is the age where they still learning to talk right, so they will tend to talk alot.

  • Dash around, touching or playing with anything and everything in sight

I should said she is curious. Which children at such age not curious with the things around them right

  • Have trouble sitting still during dinner, school, and story time

Only if she no longer feel like eating her meal. As for in school, so far no bad feedback from teacher. Story time at home, she will enjoy me reading it to her for the first few pages then snatch it away from me and wanna read it her own.

  • Be constantly in motion

Nope. She jumps, hop, skip etc. She is active and just want to play

  • Have difficulty doing quiet tasks or activities.

She loves drawing, colouring and reading. Playing toys too. Can at least hold her there for at least 15mins, is this consider quiet task??

Children who have symptoms of impulsivity may:
  • Be very impatient

Yes. But not alway; she is more to excited, eager to get it so can't wait.

  • Blurt out inappropriate comments, show their emotions without restraint, and act without regard for consequences

Yes. especially when she is in anger, she will self torture. That is what we need help with from psychologist, anger management is the big problem she needs help with

  • Have difficulty waiting for things they want or waiting their turns in games

Yes. but sometimes if we explain to her, or talk nicely to her the need to wait, she will listen, though not often. Think most children is like that right

  • Often interrupt conversations or others' activities..
Think children at her age still don't know when they shouldn't interrupt other people action or speech

I took these photos just now during the praying event.

The most fierceful person in her life; "二姨婆"
Frightened till don't even dare to move and get out of the chair.
She asked her to do what, she don't dare to oppose the instructions at all.

二姨婆 is brainwashing her. Explaning to her why she shouldn't beat or kick others and screaming.

hence her such behaviour needs punishment. Stand on a chair, finger on the lip.

Amazingly, 二姨婆 can alway keep her still and well behave whenever she is around.
She behave so well and sit still there for at least 30mins till I find her pitiful and save her. haha!

we making fun of Amabel, 二姨婆 asked her to hug her, immediately she follows what she said though she is so scare. Look at her expression you will know.

We very bad. Keep laughing secretly at her reaction and expression. wahaha

The just over morning, she heard a band out at the house window, she thought is lion dance (her favourite). She keeps wanting to see.

Amabel: Mommy! Oh lang shai (Lion dance). I want to see.

Mommy: Not the lang shai Lion dance lah. Is for people died one.

Amabel: I want to see people died

Mommy: People died. The funeral cannot see one.

Amabel then walked away. After awhile, she came to the kitchen hugging with a mickey mouse balloon.

Amabel: Mommy! Mickey mouse want to see lang shai (Lion dance)outside, can or not?

Faint!
