title: Growing Up... Amabel is 22 months now
date: Monday, June 30, 2008 time : 6:34 PM Growing Up... Amabel is 22 months now It has been sometime since I last update on Amabel development and milestones. Will talk more about her speech development. Here some update ( in red is new update from previous). See her previous here. Talking is linked to hearing and understanding speech. By listening to others, child learns what words sound like and how to put a sentence together. Amabel was always trying earnestly to imitate the sounds around her; we always hear her babbling in a lingo that only she could understand. She still does it sometime now. She can then strings two words together, making basic sentences such as "Carry me / Carry Ah bel (she calls herself Ah bel) Her sense of self has mature, and has long ago start talking about what she likes and doesn't like, what she thinks and feels. Pronouns may still confuse her, that is why most of the time she will still said, "Ah bel throw" instead of "I throw" "give Ah bel” instead of “ give me” Sometime she does be able to use it correctly with the pronouns but not always. And now she is progress to use three to four-word sentences and sing simple tunes. She is entering a period of extraordinary growth, I can see that she is progressing very well from speaking a few simple words to asking questions, giving directions, looking at the storybooks and tell the stories which she made up, which most of the time I still don’t understand. Lol~ She is learning words at a pretty fast rate now, so really got to watch out our language! Looking at the past. Amabel is progressed as follow: 1. Crying. It’s all baby first form of communication. 2. She starts to babble, combining vowels and consonants (such as "baba" or "yaya"). The first "mama" or "papa” may slip out but I know she doesn't relate those words with us yet. She loves using his tongue, palate, teeth and vocal chords to make all sorts of funny noises. I read that baby like repeating them over and over because they like the way they sound and how their mouth feels when they says them. 3. Then her babbles and vocalizes will sound as if she's making sense cause she's trying out tones and patterns similar to the ones you use. 4. Then start using one or more words, and she knows what they mean. cat, dog, scare, open, clap, apple, carry, chick, open, blanket, car, sit, shame, rain, where, apple, No, Jump, Yes, shoe, eye, ear, nose, toe, leg, mouth, teeth, cheek, clean, raining, bread, hairs, come, sorry, okay, read, milk, star, more, rabbit, frog, sheep, bus, cow, sweet, bag, balloon, nice, baby, cake, sleep, see, pat, kiss, eat, food, hug, change, brush, wait, play, keep, take, star, horse, beat, carry, turn, throw, chin, help, water, song, cut, armpit, blanket, finish, arm, angry, push, pull, wet, kick, phone, umbrella, thunder, banana, papaya, corn, cannot, elephant, hot, ice, cold, wash, comb, yogurt , cook, thunder, pillow, tissue thank you, no more, I want, read book, hold hands give me, wake up, take off, take out, pull up, pull down, go away come in (when someone knock at the door, you will said “Come in”), come out sit down, don't move, you see, eat food, take out 5. Makes two- to three-word sentences: "Mommy help." "Mommy read book" "Mommy change" "Mommy carry" "Mommy where?" "Mommy’s bag" etc 6. And now she is progress to use three to four-word sentences and sing alot of simple tunes and song. She started to be able to string nouns and verbs together to form simple sentences. eg. "Mommy opens the door" Video taken on 25 June 08 - Want to open the door, managed to captured part of it only. She actually said "Mommy opens the door" "Mommy close the door" "raining take umbrella" "I Love You" "Where you go?" "Who’s that?" etc I don't correct her grammar but repeat the sentence using the right words, i read that it's way too early to point out mistakes.
