Went to consult Mrs Wong (TMC) on latching and breastfeeding baby on Friday. My problem is that you refused to latch on although you are hungry. Mrs Wong said that it is due to 1)latching position 2) blocked milk duct, that's why milk doesn't flow well and at the same time she said you are a very fussy girl and were frustrated with the slow milk flow 3)low milk supply. She asked me to always use warm water to massage my breast before pump or breastfeed to achieve let-down, this will also prevent blocked milk duct. She mentioned that it is better to use good pump like AVENT / MEDELA DUAL ELECTRIC PUMP the one which cost $700+, that will empty the milk better than other pump and therefore stimulate milk supply. Me not going to buy cause I already have an Avent Manual pump and an Avent Electric Uno single pump.
She also solved your stomach wind problem. She taught me how to massage your tummy after feed and before burping you. It really helps, everytime I massage you after feed, and you will burp in a very short time (less than 30 sec or 1min). Now your stomach not that hard and bloated liao. I taught Rasiti and your Daddy. Daddy commented that this massage is so helpful.
Mrs Wong also said that I should not warm the expressed milk and bring out using the warmer bag. Instead we should transport the expressed milk in a cooler bag, when you want to drink then make warm.
She then took me to the breastfeeding session with all the mummies with problems. I learned quite a bit about positioning, latching on, what to do with engorgement etc just by being there with all the mummies (& their babies)and nurses around. The lactation consultation cost me $43 and I feel really worth it. Most important is that she cleared my blocked milk duct (it is so painful like hell when her assistant nurse massages my breast). Also checked with Mrs Wong and learnt that in average 1 month old babies drink 120ml. You as in 1 month old now is drinking between 100ml to 150ml. Am now really worry I unable to meet your demand. Now everytime can expressed 100ml to 200ml depend on the expressing interval. After the consultation, I tried to let you latch on, and you are now willing to 乖乖 latch on to my breast already. There is once you suckled for about 2hrs until I become very impatient, worst is that you suckled for 2 hrs still not yet empty my breast and yet still want to suckled while you are asleep, think the rest of the time, you are just sucking for comfort. I detach my breast from you and you cried for milk again. Then I got no choice but to give you my expressed milk to ease your hunger and then let you continue sleeping. Really tire lor, everytime bottle-feeding or direct breastfeeding you, in the end you will always fall asleep half way though you are still hungry.
