title: Terro ant baits... kill your kingdom
date: Wednesday, October 03, 2012
time : 6:00 PM

Beware! Below pics may make you a little uncomfortable! ^o^

There’s been an ongoing war in my home for years, started from in old place, Boon Tiong and now here in Jurong. Not just lizards that freaked me out (I very seldom get to see it in my house now. Thank god!). I had a hard time preventing lizards by putting this at each corner of my house windows and area where we frequent spot them

and spraying this at those corner too, to prevent lizards and cockroaches (my house so far don't have this problem)

And most important keeping my house especially kitchen squeaky clean. If you ever read, every night I had to make sure all windows are closed, sides are sealed, rubbish is cleared.

Yah, so what I have been battling with other than lizards are Ants, it appear on my kitchen’s table top, sometime I will see ants marching in from the main door all the way in to kitchen and maybe else where a few here and there. I tried all brands of ant bait trap, tried pellet which I sprinkled it on the area where I see ants. Don't bother with the cheap granular baits or the more expensive Combat baits, tried them, all failed. The most it disappear for 2 days, then ants come back again. Then I decided to have a peaceful coexistence. I’d just make sure my kitchen top was squeaky clean at all times so the ants didn’t have anything to attract them. And you know what?! Water does attract ants!! This is my finding and my BFF, Von, do agreed with me. I can assure you it does cause I’m super clean freak, especially when come to kitchen. I will make sure the kitchen no bit of food and guess what I saw.. that's when the ants come.. they are drinking the droplets of water on my table, after our hand wash. Ok well, I said I wanna have a peaceful coexistence so If I saw there were a couple of ants, I’d make do with dispose of them and get on with my day. That was frustrating though, the next moment I go in, another few ants here and there again loitering around looking for source. There must be a number of colonies around in a house. That is the time I tell myself I wanna destroy your kingdom!! I cannot imagine lizards have their colony, I will go crazy and die infront of them.

Hus told me that he read a lot of good review by local about ‘Terro Liquid Ant Baits’ and is selling like hotcake in the few stores which carrying it. So I told Hus just gave Terro a shot then. I only managed to get it a few weeks later because everywhere is OOS. I hate OOS this word. We then decided to wait under reservation @Mediya and stop going around the stores to try luck to see whether there are still stocks. Received a call from the staff at Mediya week later in the morning that stocks have arrived and we headed down that evening and guess what... it is OOS again. Told you they are selling like hotcakes. Luckily I get them to reserve for us.

I have to tell you, I haven’t seen an ant in the kitchen in weeks n month after that. I just put a few drops of Terro Liquid Ant Bait near corner of the table top near the window where the ants seem to make their way into the kitchen and somewhere at the corner near the main door. Try to put the bait as close as possible to the end of the trail, next to the colony because if you leave bait in the middle of nowhere, ants will not come unless a scout can discover its location.

You can see here that the ants will swarm all over the surrounding of the liquid drops

Pic taken at my kitchen table top

Hus sent this to me which is taken by one of the local Terro user which he put up online

alamak... like having buffet

after that bring the poison back “While the insecticide in the bait will ultimately kill the worker ant, it works slowly enough that the worker has time to get back and share the bait with the colony. That’s the only way to get rid of both the ants you see and the thousands you don’t.” They went back to their colony, feed the queen, kill their mother, father, all their brothers and sisters kingdom die and colony uplorry. Lol~ Actually just one drop and they all disappeared within one day, not exaggerating here. Within two or three days, the ants just stopped appearing, not even one can be spotted.

I read that this solution is mix with a 'correct' proportion of boric acid, an abrasive substance; hence the ants will not 'detect' the boric acid when they eat the solution. It's only after a day or days the boric acid will grind away ant's exoskeleton who have feed on them. So just pray hard all the ants eat and die. But personally I feel that, killing entire colonies of ants doesn’t solve the problem for you when people neglect cleanliness and hygiene. And also another concern is whether it is safe if your house has children like me or has pets. I read that this somewhere (I think terro website) that “TERRO liquid ant baits are made from a natural ingredient, Borax, which is safe to use around humans and pets, but is deadly to ants.”For me I will put it in a corner (still along the ant trail) where my children are unable to reach or spot easily.

I recommended Von to use this and she came back to me yesterday, telling me  how good and power it is. PIL who are using also commented power, no more ants! and they are super eager to share this around. That's why I have decided to write up a post on this. ;)

**** But if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe for your case then please don’t use it. ****

This is awesome! If I have my own house, I'll definitely get them. As my mother is against killing (religion), so I can't use it. Arghh. Although it's not like I love killing them. There's no other choice! The ants just keeps coming and coming especially at the rubbish area. There's a few times I go crazy and splash water everywhere to drown them. But... ANTS SEASON 2/3/4/5...
