title: Mooncake making and Steamboat feast
date: Monday, September 27, 2010 time : 8:13 PM Though I’m not a big fan of mooncakes, but every year I looking forward seeing different design, new flavors and packaging of the mooncakes. It’s amazing how the hotels, restaurants, and bakeries come up with so many creative inventions every year. I still love Durian mooncake the most, this year I bought the Goodwood park one again. It made the day a unique one, gathering with the BMW members baking and cooking! Von, Sz and XH met up at Phoon Huat first to get the baking ingredients. Me (Amabel tagged along) and Tan family only managed to meet up with them in Clementi's NTUC to get ingredients for the steamboat. Grabbed our favourite food for steamboat and packed out lunch, only managed to reach our place at 2ish. Once we filled our stomach, we started our baking session. We were split into 2 teams of 3. but later it became 4 vs 1. 4 pairs of hands. wahahaha... We kneaded, rubbed, weight the dough and filling, rolled, beat the mooncake out from the mould! the dough... Rolling the skin: Take a ball of dough and roll it, The fillings -we used the ready-made fillings. Added almonds and divided them into equal portions Putting it together - Cover up the ball of filling with the rolled dough and place the whole thing into the mold. the biggest one WQ made 71 moonies in total. Wow quite surprise the number we made in almost 2 and half hours Before we are done with the mooncakes, VON and XH started preparing for the steamboat. then we came in to help. YK preparing her invented chilli sauce The first time we prepared steamboat, I were only fancy with the chicken soup one but this round the Tom yam soup one taste too yummy that I just had that throughout.. Story telling session for the kids conducted by Aunty Sz Haha we even got a nice packaging for our end products. Look pro and nice right but haha it wasn't taste good for the green tea one and the skin was tough that no one wish to give it as a gift to others. lol~ Anyway I still finished the lotus one, it taste actually not bad. ;p Labels: Chinese occassion, My Gallery, My Mommy's lifestyle, Our Activities |
