I didn't expected this to be happened to us, we have been treating the maid well enough; not too pampering nor ill-treating.

It is common to hear about maids ran away after a few months of work, but mine ran away after working for 21 months. Ranaway maid had happened to a lot of people, have been hearing stories all over the places (forums, blogs, newspaper), but only until you experience it yourself, you will then know the hassle! Am blessed that she never ranaway with my daughter nor my daughters being abused by her.

She was last seen by me at home on 2nd May 2010 at about 11.30pm. Is only on 3rd May 2010 about 12.15am, I discovered that my maid, Eni was missing from home when I went down to check on whether she had prepared Aisleyne's schoolbag (supposed to be her first day in childcare). Then I walked to kitchen and checked all toilet, no sign of her. Saw milk bottles not yet wash. I also noticed that the gate was not locked then I checked her shoes, it's gone!!! OMG! Was so fury cause she went out without my permission. I believed that she must be thinking we are all asleep then she dares to sneak out, just bringing along her mobile phone cause I couldn't find her mobile phone too when I searching for her at home. I knew that she has no intention to go missing, cause she was in her pyjamas when I last seen her, and her belongings were all still intact, including her passport and work permit were still safely kept in our safe box. I thought maybe she went to the nearby 7-11 to get some snack to eat or other thing so I went to the 7-11 to check, I didn't see her there so I tried to contact her mobile phone and she answered. however, she did not utter a word and hung up, Subsequently I tried calling her, her mobile phone was off. Being more alert now and suspecting something wrong, I went to search for her around the vicinity but to no avail. I waited for her outside my house till 1am, gave up and I woke up hubby, informing him that the maid had disappeared. I insisted him to go search for her again since he's more astute as I might had left out some places.

Hubby then went to search for her around the vicinity and spotted her, together with a guy on 3rd May 2010 at about 1.30am sitting on a bench near afew block away. Upon seeing my husband, she ran real fast away, alone! Hubby didn't approach the guy cause it is quite dangerous to do so as the guy is with a helmet too. Not worth the risk and no point to ran after my maid also since her passport and work permit are with us. Hence hubby came back informing me she was still somewhere near our house. I tried calling her mobile again and again but is still off. We waited for her at home to see whether she dares to return while we discussing with my parent about the maid ranaway, knew quite a lot of thing about my maid from my brother. He guessed that the Malay guy my maid was with was the Malaysian that my maid did mentioned to him before. My brother believed that it was the guy that she got to know three weeks ago, as she started to talk on phone late at night recently.

That was also when I discovered that she starts getting impatient with my girls and being more emotional then usual after she got a firm disapproval from me on her request to get one day off if she continue to work for me after her 2 year contract. I firmly told her that "If you want off day, then I will say byebye to you. I can help you to ask the agency to find another employer who is crazy enough to give you off day with your such working ability". Not long after, she told me she will like to transfer agency (cause her current agency staff are really very strict and fierce) to get another employer after finish her 2 year contract since I couldn't let her have off day. We agreed! Then I started to noticed that her working performance is getting worst, started using phone at night (but I didn't know that she used until 2 or 3am until my family told me a few day before she ranaway), impatient to my girls which got me boiled. I asked her to leave early if she is not happy working here, she said she will then work for us till end May. I wanted her to leave immediate but hubby disagreed. I worried she may hurt my girl so I keep checking with the childcare on whether her early enrollment has been approve. Finally received a good new that, Aisleyne early enrollment has been approved and can start school on 3rd May.

We chatted till 3am, she still didn't return so we went back to sleep; locked all worthy belonging and we locked our room in case she return back, may hurt my girls or trying to find her work permit which is in our room.

Next day we woke up, she still no return home. I settled my girls and bring them to my in-law who is staying overnight at hubby's brother house in Jurong. We informed the maid agency and to protect ourself, a police report was lodged. We spent an hour plus in Jurong Police Station. The police made a check with the embassy and all hospitals, however to no avail.The police assured us they would notify the embassy, hospitals and immigration department, and that the case would be assigned to an investigating officer (IO) who would contact us and follow up on our case.

On 4th May 2010, 9am. Ministry of Manpower (MOM) called my mobile phone, saying that my maid was in MOM approaching them for help to change maid agency and employer for her. First thing came to my mind is 'Stupid maid' she thinks MOM so free help her to settle this small case (changing maid agency and employer). She didn't know that she is still under me and my maid agency, MOM will still hand her over to us. We informed the agency and once we lodged a police report we headed to Crislo the agency. They sent their men to MOM to bring the maid back to agency and I asked them to immediately cancel her work permit and repatriate her to Indonesia

Nowadays maid think that they are clever but they must clearly know that this is Singapore not Malaysia or where else. And it was such a stupid act as who would be so crazy and stupid to leave behind her salary and passport.

Anyway it is such a sad thing that she is so naive and stupid to go off with that Malay guy who she doesn't know him long enough and who must have wanted her for his own physical satisfaction. Now I can only pity her and serves her right that she had to end up in this state. In order to avoid the same plight to other future employer, we decided to have her repatriated and I wrote to MOM to blacklisted her from coming back to Singapore to work.
