title: Sickly days
date: Thursday, December 03, 2009 time : 6:16 PM Sickly days Its really not easy for the parent when kids start falling sick one by one. Ever since Amabel enters childcare, she is falling sick quite frequent. Not to said she brings the virus and germs back home and spread it to lil A, sometime to me and hubby too. Amabel has sensitive airway so is more prone to having cough and flu. This time is the most serious one; they caught bronchitis, this is their first time and needed to be nebulised (first time too). It started from Amabel coughing non stop throughout the day, then it spreaded to lil A then to me and hubby. It never get better despite they were on medication which was prescripted by another PD (nearby my current place, as our PD Dr Gong from Gleneagles is out of town). We then brought them to Dr Gong on Monday when he is back. They were diagnosed with bronchitis and needed to be on nebuliser for 5 days. Initially I feeling bad as this sound serious to me when Dr Gong told me they need to be nebulised but in fact he said that nebuliser is better than oral medication as it gets straight into the lungs instead of through the blood stream and it works faster than oral. He also advised us to keep them at home especially Amabel who is in childcare if not the virus will be passing around non-stop. Thank God they are so much better after a day of the nebuliser and mild oral medication and Amabel’s coughs are rarely heard, and Aisleyne no longer coughing. Nebulising at home; Amabel never fussed yet happily held onto the unit and looking like an elephant holding her trunk. We actually let Amabel has the nebuliser first, showing it to Aisleyne so to get her not afraid of it. She fuss initially so we have to switch on her favourite Barney for her to watch to stop her from moving about. The third day, she is already getting use to the mist and can happily inhale it and laugh at it. So cheeky! I find my lil A so poor thing, so young has to go through this that her sister never went through at her age. It’s really tiring for us also, going to and fro the clinics, one after another. And having to give them bottle and bottle of medication, especially lil A who totally reject medication and is really tiring coaxing her to drink it. I pray that this is the first and also the last time we have to go through this and those evil bacterias and viruses won’t bug them again. Labels: Aisleyne, Amabel, Sick |
