talking abt maids.
let me share my experience.
when we dun trust them, they say we abuse their freedom, rights.
when we trust them, they abuse us :(
for my first maid, after wrking for 8mths, she wanted to go home coz her daughter pregnant. ok fine. luckily we found a replacement maid quickly and she's not bad.
we're not fussy employer and i dare say we treat her well.
guess what, she ran away 2 days ago. she told us she wanted to go for a hair cut with her cousin who's paying for her.
normally during off day she'll go out with her cousin who's oso a maid working here for 6yrs.
why does she has off day in the first place? she's an indon maid. she requested for off day mthly. being kind we told her we'll give her off bi-monthly and then review after 1 yr.
after not seeing her back for few hrs and we realised something is amiss. we could not find her passport. she must has taken it w her. im sure she ransacked to find her passport.
sometimes we leave her alone to do housework for few hrs a wk. so i guess she planned for the runaway.
what's puzzling us is why does she needs to run away? if she has to go home, we'll let her (just like the first maid). does she feels she's being abused by us? if yes, she'll go to the embassy which she didnt as we've checked.
we're staying in 3rm flat, how much work she has to do??? she gets to eat whatever we've at home. even for instant noodles she gets to choose the brand/type she wants.
sigh... can someone tells me why she runs away?
am i wrong to give her off day? am i wrong to let her go for haircut on her own? am i wrong to leave her at home sometimes so tt she doesnt has to deal with a running kid while mopping the floor?

No one can explain to you why she run away. Only she know... We can never understand what a maid think. Is she a fresh maid? Maybe she homesick? hai... all maid got problems. I am also headache with my maid, don't know how much more problem will be coming the way. She start demanding for thing also but still she do her job. just try not to give in her demand. Once give in surely alot more demands from her.
My maid is leaving this Saturday due to her father is seriously ill, but i only allow her to go back 2 weeks. Now Just pray hard that she will come back after her homeleave and still be obey when she is back.
I know, I am taking a risk. But if change maid also taking a risk. To me both the same now. Just that we lugi on the return air ticket and also the renew of work permit fee if she never come back.
yeah, i guess only she knows the answer.
yday just found out fr my mom tt she lent $350 to the maid when she first started work with us for 3mths. sigh... my mom didnt tell us as she tot the maid will be able to wrk long w us and able to repay back.
sometimes being kind is being stupid. my maid agency said we shld know when to pull and when to let go. but for ppl like my family, it's tough as we're all too kind hearted i guess.
i kind of have phobia having another maid......
oh btw, the reason why my mom lent her $ coz she said her father seriously ill and her mom asked her to send some $ back. but at tt time she's only getting $50 per mth as she hasnt paid her loan to the agency fully yet.
she's not a fresh maid. worked 4yrs with prev owner. then went back indon and came back again.
yaya no point being too kind to them. They can be heartless. My aunt's ex-maid also bluff that her daughter die, all the relative contribute some money for her to bring back but in the end discovered that her daughter never pass away. My aunt only knew it from another maid when her maid is being send back due to multiple time of stealing money and jewellery.
so after ur maid goes home to see her father now, does she still need to go home for marriage few mths later as initially requested?

I cancel her work permit and sent her back.
New maid will be here in 2 to 3 weeks.
