title: 15 months 21 Days milestone update
date: Tuesday, December 11, 2007
time : 5:10 PM

Amabel is going 16 months soon. Haven’t been updating her milestone since my last post when she is about 1 year old. See her previous milestone update here

Amabel’s newly achieved skill;

Amabel can follow my counting.
E.g She knows this quite sometime ago. I was counting and said 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and I stopped and she said 10. So I said 7, 8, 9 and she said 10 again. She knows “10” is always after the count of 9. haha. She knows when to say 10.

Learns the correct way to use common objects (e.g., the telephone, remote control, DVD player etc).
When the phone rings, you will search for it and place it on your ear.
Whenever you feel like watching educational show, you will go to the DVD player, start pressing the button or take the remote control and point at the TV and press the button, thought that you may manage to turn on the TV. Lol~
Searches for hidden objects and start to hid all our things.
There is once she hides the SCV remote controller inside the socks laundry pail, made her daddy search high and low for it. And I discovered is in the pail. Faint… wondering what else you had hide w/o our awareness.

Amabel’s list of words and comprehension
Says "mama", "papa, “ah ma” , “爺爺” and Siti jiejie (helper) etc to correct person
And she knows my name and keeps calling me “E-Ling” in a very sweet tone, but has corrected her. When a dog or whatever frightened her, she will pat her chest and said, “scare… scare…”
When she didn’t manage to open an object, she will pass the thing to us and said “open”.
When she happy, she will clap her hands and said, “clap”
She knows the actions to the song “Happy and You Know It” and “The Eensy Weensy Spider”.
She’ll put her hands together to pray when she see joss stick or god statues or when ask to.
Others include: apple, chick, open, blanket (almost there), car, thank you (almost there), no more-with action, (almost there).

Indicates wants with words/gestures like points at objects.
She wants anything she will point at the objects and wants us to pass it to her. And when she wants or wants to eat our food or too slow in serving her food, she will say, “I want”

Understands "no" and simple instructions
She knows whenever we said “no” to her meaning she can’t have or do certain things, she will cry and scream.
She can understand our instruction, like for eg. When watching education show, she will sometime like to go near to the television like wanna go into the television. And I will go to the DVD player/TV and tell her “Cannot watch the show so near, sit (far far) there. If not I will turn off the television” and she will listen and return to her seat.
Responds to instructions (e.g., "give me a kiss", give a thing to a person when ask to, help to throw rubbish into the dustbin w/o the help to led the way to the dustbin, take a tissue paper to help cleaning floor and table)

Points to one body part when asked, know where is:
Nose, ear, head, hair, chin, cheek, legs, hand, finger, toes, feet/foot, eyes, mouth, teeth, bellybutton
Good habit
Will go to take her shoes and try to wear it when she knows we are going out and know that she needs to remove her shoes once she steps home

Has temper tantrums when frustrated
Whenever things doesn’t go her way. She will throw tantrums, cry, scream, beat people and bite people or herself. Have attended a course on how to handle temper tantrums - very useful and will see whether it help
Walks backward and make a U-turn
Runs
Other abilities
Can walk up and down stairs by using wall or handrail for support. Pushes and pulls toys while walking. Kicks ball forward. Empties containers of contents, puts objects into a container and out of it. Imitates others' activities. Initiates games. Uses a spoon. Scribbles with a pen/crayon on a paper. Turns the pages of a book. Becomes attached to a soft toy or other object. Discovers the joy of climbing. Dances to music

These are all I can think of for now.
